Horse Camps for All Ages

BEGINNER LEVEL

Horse Camp

Student will learn the following:

  • Parts of the saddle
  • Parts of the bridle
  • Five major parts of the horse
  • Three Riding Aids
  • Basic grooming equipment used on a horse
  • Five horse colors
  • Safety around horses

Student will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • The proper way to approach a horse
  • How to groom and tack up the horse, including picking up and cleaning the hooves
  • The correct way to lead a horse
  • Mounting and dismounting technique
  • Walking, turning and stopping the horse
  • Riding a figure 8
  • Cleaning out a stall
  • Putting the halter on & off the horse

Above points must be completed before student can advance to the “Intermediate Level”.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Horse Camp

Student will learn the following:

  • Basic differences between good and poor confirmation
  • Basic horse feeding rations
  • Annual shots and coggins test that are done annually
  • How to take a horse’s temperature
  • The difference between a stallion, gelding, mare, colt, filly, and foal
  • Two major parasites that affect horses and how to prevent them
  • Face markings and leg markings

Student will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Bathing a horse
  • Braiding a mane
  • How to clean a saddle & bridle
  • First aid for minor horse cuts
  • Walk, flat walk and running walk
  • Figure 8 and serpentine
  • Take a horse’s temperature
  • Riding safely with other horses

Upcoming Horse Camps

School Days Off Horse Camp

Showmanship, Basic riding, Game Day
Is your child a horse lover? Give them an opportunity to come to a working horse farm. They will learn to care for the horses as well as ride. We also have crafts, hike through the woods, play in the creek, go up to the hayloft.

Time: 9am-3:30pm
Dates: Monday, January 20  |  Monday, February 17  |  Friday, March 13 |  Friday, March 20

$75 / Day

Includes lunch. $50 required at time of registration to hold spot. Balance due first day of camp. Space is limited.

Spring Break Horse Camp

Highlights:

  • Learn to ride horses
  • Care for horses
  • Take-home crafts
  • Showcase riding skills to parents on last day

Time: 9am-3:30pm
Dates: April 6-10  |  April 13-17

$375 / Week

Includes lunch. $75 required at time of registration to hold spot. Balance due first day of camp. Space is limited.

Summer Beginner Horse Camp

Showmanship, Basic riding, Game Day

Summer Intermediate Horse Camp

Saddleseat on Tenn Walkers
Is your child a pretty good rider? Do they want to fine tune or advance their riding skills? Give them an opportunity at our Intermediate Rider Horse Camp.

Time: 9am-3:30pm
Dates: June 22-26 and August 3-7

$375 / Week

Includes lunch, drinks & snacks. $75 required at time of registration to hold spot. Balance due first day of camp. Space is limited.
